Chelsea midfielder, Mikel Obi makes Nigerian Olympic squad

Nigeria has named Odion Ighalo, John Mikel Obi and goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, as the senior players to feature in the country’s Olympic men football team.
Coach of the team, Samson Siasia, picked the three as the overage players for his Olympic squad due to
a history of long ties among other reasons.
Godfrey Oboabona, who was also one of Siasia’s targets for the overage picks, did not make the cut as his Turkish club Rizespor insist he would not be released for the Rio Games.
The Nigerian team will camp in the United States from where they will travel to Mexico City for a friendly with the Mexico Under-23 team on July the 2nd.
The team will later play two additional warm up matches, against the U.S. and Honduras before leaving for the Olympic Games.
